Overview
Registered in 2003, this medium-sized hosta cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Sum and Substance' (pod parent) and *Hosta plantaginea* (pollen parent). 'Raleigh Remembrance' is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with bright gold, flat margins, a very shiny upper surface, and a thin glaucous bloom beneath; the ovate leaves have cordate bases, moderate waviness, and light corrugation.
In the Garden
This mound-forming plant reaches 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its blue-green and gold foliage. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded beds.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor foliage regularly and take protective measures if needed.
