Overview
Registered in 2005, 'Rainbow Glenn' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar originating from a cross between *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict' (pod parent) and an *Hosta* 'Outrageous' seedling (pollen parent). This cultivar is visually distinctive for its green leaves with creamy white, slightly rippled margins that are streaked with greenish-yellow, combined with a very shiny upper surface, dull underside, and notable puckering.
In the Garden
'Rainbow Glenn' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, where its variegated foliage remains most stable. The broadly ovate, lightly cupped leaves with cordate bases and moderate corrugation provide textural contrast when paired with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
