Overview

Registered in 1980 by L. Simpers, this giant hosta is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Crispula'. Its most distinctive feature is the bright green leaf margins that contrast with a lighter center, producing a variegated effect typical of many *H. crispula* offspring.

In the Garden

'Quilting Party' reaches a mature spread of 35 inches (88.9 cm) and a height of 25 inches (63.5 cm), making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large leaves, measuring 15 inches (38.1 cm) long and 10 inches (25.4 cm) wide with 13 vein pairs, provide substantial texture that pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Not suited for containers due to its giant size.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
