Overview
Registered in 1989 by M. Soules, this large hosta cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta sieboldiana*. It is visually distinctive for its heavily textured, quilted leaves with dark green margins and a lighter center, forming a substantial mound.
In the Garden
'H quilted Hearts' reaches a mature diameter of approximately 46 inches (117 cm) and a height of 20 inches (51 cm), making it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its thick leaves resist scorch. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size precludes container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick leaves offer moderate slug resistance, but standard slug control measures may still be necessary in damp conditions.
