Overview
Registered in 2012, 'Quiet Nights' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar bred from the pod parent *Hosta* 'High Kicker' and pollen parent *Hosta* 'Hacksaw' F1 seedling. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its blue-green foliage with a glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces, combined with medium green, slightly rippled leaf margins that create a subtle two-tone effect.
In the Garden
'Quiet Nights' forms an upright, moderately spreading clump reaching approximately 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter. The 10-inch-long, 5-inch-wide leaves are ovate with cordate bases, lightly folded and lightly wavy, with 9 to 10 vein pairs. This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the glaucous bloom remains most pronounced. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials that contrast with its blue-green foliage.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Quiet Nights' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
