Overview

Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Quest' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its lance-shaped green leaves with golden yellow flat margins and red coloration on the reverse of the petioles. The foliage is slightly shiny on the upper surface, dull beneath, and exhibits light corrugation and cupping.

In the Garden

With a mature spread of 9 inches (22.9 cm) and height of 6 inches (15.2 cm), 'Quest' is suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade with moderate moisture, typical of hosta-growing zones. Its upright habit and pointed leaves make it a textural contrast alongside broader-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slug and deer resistance is not documented, standard protective measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
