Overview

Registered in 2002, *Hosta* 'Orinoco Flow' is a large cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Glacier Cascade' as the pod parent. It is visually distinguished by its broadly ovate, blue-green leaves with heavily rippled margins, a glaucous bloom on the lower surface, and an arching, mound-like habit.

In the Garden

'Orinoco Flow' reaches a mature diameter of 44 inches (111.8 cm) and a height of 16 inches (40.6 cm), forming a moderate-growing, arching mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or groundcover in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, glaucous leaves offer some resistance to slugs, though standard preventive measures may still be warranted in damp conditions.
