Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Edger' registered in 1999, 'Olympic Edger' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with narrow, creamy white margins. The leaf blades measure 4 inches (10.2 cm) long by 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, with five vein pairs, a dull upper surface, and a glaucous bloom on the underside.
In the Garden
This compact hosta reaches 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf coloration remains most pronounced. Suitable for edging borders, rock gardens, or small containers, it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials of similar scale.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Olympic Edger' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed.
