Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Ohh! Laurel' is a small sport of an unknown seedling parent, distinguished by its lanceolate green leaves with greenish-yellow flat margins and a lightly wavy, twisted tip. The leaves are dull on both surfaces, measure 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) long by 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide, and display six to seven vein pairs.

In the Garden

This compact cultivar forms an upright mound 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container cultivation. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for gold-margined hostas, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or shade-tolerant groundcovers. Its small size and tidy habit also suit trough gardens or mixed shade containers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the tender foliage may attract both pests in typical hosta-growing zones.
