Overview

Registered by Peter Ruh in 2002, *Hosta* 'Ogon Tsushima' is a small, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its lance-shaped, dull green leaves with clear yellow-gold margins that exhibit a slight greenish cast and a very shiny underside. The leaf margins are slightly rippled, and the blade is lightly folded, moderately wavy, and moderately flat, with six prominent vein pairs.

In the Garden

Reaching a mature diameter of 21.5 inches (54.6 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), 'Ogon Tsushima' is suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to dappled shade and, as a fast multiplier, quickly forms a compact clump. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or spring bulbs. The scape rises 28 to 30 inches (71.1 to 76.2 cm) above the foliage, bearing pale yellow-green flowers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable in typical hosta-growing zones.
