Overview

Registered in 2002 by P. Ruh, this small hosta cultivar forms a compact mound of ovate, dull-surfaced leaves with green centers and greenish yellow flat margins. The leaves measure 3.75 inches (9.5 cm) long and 2.75 inches (7.0 cm) wide, with eight pairs of veins, and emerge from a parentage listed as unknown.

In the Garden

With a mature diameter of 17 inches (43.2 cm) and height of 7.5 inches (19.1 cm), this spreading dwarf produces a dense, rounded mound suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, as is typical for gold-margined hostas, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature perennials. The pale green scapes reach up to 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height, though the plant's moderate growth rate keeps it manageable in confined spaces.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
