Overview
Registered in 2013 as a sport of an unregistered hosta, *Hosta* 'Oberland Advanced Technology' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its light green leaves with irregular white margins that often streak into the leaf center. The foliage is ovate with cordate bases, lightly corrugated, and dull on both surfaces, with 9 to 10 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches approximately 20 inches (50 cm) in height and 28 inches (70 cm) in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its substantial mound form makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens. The green-and-white variegation pairs well with dark-leaved perennials such as *Heuchera* 'Palace Purple' or ferns.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
