Overview
Registered in 1987 by D. Stone and P. Ruh, 'Oakview' is a small blue-green hosta with glossy, cupped leaves and contrasting margins. Its compact mound and low, spreading habit distinguish it from other small blue-green cultivars.
In the Garden
'Oakview' reaches approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, forming a dense, rounded clump suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small hostas. Its small size makes it an excellent choice for troughs or mixed shade containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the glossy foliage, so monitor regularly and use barriers or bait as needed; deer may also browse the leaves.
