Overview

Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster, *Hosta* 'Now' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. Its most distinctive feature is a misted yellow leaf center framed by a dark green, slightly rippled margin, producing a strong contrast between the two zones.

In the Garden

'Now' forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching 13.5 inches (34.3 cm) in height and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the yellow center holds its color without scorching. The broadly ovate, lightly cupped leaves with 8 to 10 vein pairs provide textural interest; companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or fine-textured grasses complement its bold form. Its medium size suits border middles, woodland gardens, or mixed shade beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in warmer climates. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor plants and take protective measures if needed.
