Overview
Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster (AHS), *Hosta* 'Now and Then' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, green leaves with white margins that are streaked with yellow and greenish white, and for its slightly rippled, lightly cupped, and lightly corrugated leaf texture.
In the Garden
'Now and Then' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and is suitable for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in containers. Its medium size and textured foliage pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar may be susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate protective measures are advisable in typical hosta-growing zones.
