Overview
Registered in 2010, 'Nemesis' is a small hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its yellow leaves with dark green, flat margins, and a notable seasonal color shift in which the yellow center develops streaked variegation as the growing season progresses.
In the Garden
'Nemesis' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching approximately 18 inches (45 cm) in height and 24 inches (60 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other small shade perennials. Its small size makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation or front-of-border placement.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Nemesis' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
