Overview
Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'Neeta' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Sunlight Sister' that produces a medium-sized clump of dark green leaves with broad, yellow, slightly rippled margins. The foliage is notably glossy on both surfaces, with a cordate leaf base and 11 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms an upright mound reaching 15 inches (38.1 cm) in height and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the gold margins remain most vibrant; excessive sun may scorch the leaf edges. The green scapes, 24 to 28 inches (61.0 to 71.1 cm) tall, bear lavender flowers in midsummer. Suitable companions include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade perennials. Its medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts or mixed shade beds.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain even soil moisture; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Neeta' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
