Overview
Registered in 2006 by P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Naomi' is a small variegated cultivar derived from the Tardiana Group. Its leaves are ovate with cordate bases, featuring dark green margins and flat surfaces, with a waxy upper texture and dull underside.
In the Garden
'Hosta' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small stature makes it well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella* in similar light conditions.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and protect as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
