Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, this large cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Sum and Substance' and *H. pycnophylla*. 'Nancy Gill' is distinguished by its broadly ovate, heavily glaucous blue-green leaves with medium blue-green margins, moderate cupping, and pronounced corrugation.

In the Garden

'Nancy Gill' forms a substantial mound 58 inches (147.3 cm) in diameter and 26 inches (66.0 cm) tall, making it suitable as a specimen or background plant in partial to full shade. Its large, textured leaves provide strong contrast when paired with fine-textured perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The blue-green scapes rise to 26 inches (66.0 cm), bearing flowers typical of the species.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, this cultivar may be susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing in typical hosta-growing zones.
