Overview
Registered in 2010 by P. & J. Ruh, 'Nagaeto' is a small, fast-growing hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its elliptic, variegated leaves with light green, moderately rippled margins, a slightly shiny surface on both sides, and a moderately folded, lightly wavy, lightly corrugated texture.
In the Garden
'Nagaeto' reaches a mature size of approximately 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones and pairs well with other small perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes. Its compact size makes it an excellent candidate for containers or rock gardens.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Nagaeto' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
