Section classII-3

Overview

Registered in 2009 from a seedling of unknown parentage, *Hosta* 'My David' is a large cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with golden yellow margins and notably rugose (heavily corrugated) texture. The broadly oblong to ovate leaves reach 12 inches (30.5 cm) in length and 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) in width, with 14 vein pairs and a thin glaucous bloom on the undersides.

In the Garden

'My David' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its gold margins remain most vivid. Mature clumps reach large size, suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders alongside ferns, *Heuchera*, and *Astilbe*. Its substantial leaf surface and pronounced corrugation provide textural contrast in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain leaf turgor, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
