Overview
Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Morning Glow' is a giant sport of *Hosta* 'Ming Dynasty' (pod parent) with unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its large, nearly round, dull green leaves with broad, flat, bright yellow margins that remain yellow throughout the growing season, and its upright, slow-growing habit.
In the Garden
'Morning Glow' reaches a mature size of 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height, with scapes rising 30 to 36 inches (76.2 to 91.4 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or focal point in shaded borders, woodland gardens, or large containers. Its large, corrugated leaves and yellow scapes provide textural contrast when paired with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Morning Glow' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
