Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'My Cup of Tea', registered in 2009 by an unknown originator, 'Monty Python' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with gold margins that exhibit green and golden yellow streaking. The foliage is ovate with cordate bases, moderately cupped and wavy, bearing a dull upper surface and a glaucous bloom beneath.
In the Garden
'Monty Python' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and is well-suited to rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders. Its small stature pairs effectively with fine-textured companions such as ferns, *Heuchera*, or dwarf *Astilbe*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage regularly and employ barriers or repellents as needed.
