Overview
Registered in 2014, *Hosta* 'Modern Dance' is a medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Exotic Dancer' (pod parent) with an unknown pollen parent. This cultivar is visually distinctive for its heavily streaked foliage: medium blue-green leaves are marked with creamy white streaks and margins, with slightly rippled edges and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.
In the Garden
'Modern Dance' forms a fast-growing, mound-like clump reaching approximately 22.75 inches (57.8 cm) in diameter and 12.75 inches (32.4 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or shaded containers. Its medium size and moderate leaf waviness make it a useful textural accent alongside ferns, heucheras, or other shade perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
