Overview
Registered in 1986 by E. Fisher and the American Hosta Society, 'Misty Waters' is a large hybrid derived from *Hosta sieboldiana*. It is visually distinguished by its broad, blue-green leaves with a misty, glaucous bloom and contrasting lighter margins, forming a substantial, dense mound.
In the Garden
This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage retains its best color. At maturity, it reaches 24 inches (61 cm) in height and spreads to 42 inches (107 cm) in diameter, making it suitable as a specimen or for the middle to back of a shaded border. It pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitoring and appropriate controls are recommended in typical hosta-growing zones.
