Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'King Tut' registered in 1999, 'Mister Watson' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with golden yellow margins. The leaf blade is slightly shiny on the upper surface and dull beneath, with a flat base and ten pairs of veins.
In the Garden
'Mister Watson' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 8 inches (20.3 cm) in height and 17 inches (43.2 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for gold-margined hostas, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or woodland groundcovers. Its small stature makes it suitable for troughs, rock gardens, or the front of a shaded border.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Mister Watson' may be browsed by deer and is susceptible to slug damage, particularly on the tender new foliage.
