Overview

Registered in 1995, 'Mister Gee' is a miniature hosta resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Crepe Suzette' and *H.* 'Blue Moon'. Its most distinctive feature is the blue-green leaf surface with a glaucous bloom, contrasted by slightly blue-green, smooth margins that create a subtle streaked effect.

In the Garden

'Mister Gee' reaches a mature size of 8 inches (20.3 cm) in diameter and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height, with a semi-upright, slow-growing habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and is well-suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Its miniature stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, where its compact form and muted coloration can be appreciated at close range. Companion plants might include small ferns, dwarf astilbes, or fine-textured groundcovers such as *Tiarella* or *Heucherella*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; regular monitoring and appropriate barriers are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
