Overview
Registered in 1996 by P. Ruh, this miniature hosta forms a compact mound of variegated foliage with medium green, slightly rippled leaves that are dull above and slightly shiny beneath. The leaves, measuring 3.5 inches long and 1.38 inches wide with three vein pairs and tapered bases, emerge from a parentage of unknown origin.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 10 inches and height of 5 inches, 'Missie Mouse' is well-suited for the front of shade borders, rock gardens, or trough plantings. Its small stature and moderate growth rate make it an excellent candidate for container culture, where it pairs effectively with other miniature perennials such as small ferns or creeping sedums. Like most hostas, it performs best in partial to full shade with consistent moisture.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be monitored.
