Overview
Registered in 2004 by H. Hansen, 'Miss Tokyo' is a giant hosta distinguished by its large, blue-green leaves with broad, creamy white to yellow margins. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above with a glaucous bloom beneath, and the margins are flat, ranging from 1 to 2.5 inches (2.5 to 6.4 cm) wide.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 30 inches (76.2 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, and is suitable for mid-border or as a specimen plant in larger garden spaces. Its substantial size makes it less appropriate for containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Miss Tokyo' may be susceptible to slug damage; monitor foliage in damp conditions. Deer resistance is typical for the genus.
