Overview
Registered in 2015 by A. Wrede, 'Miss Shamim' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its broadly ovate to nearly round leaves with light green, heavily rippled margins and dark purple petioles that retain their color throughout the growing season. The leaf surface is dull on both sides, with a cordate base and lightly wavy edges, while the purple scape bears a glaucous coating.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter at maturity, with an upright, moderate growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or container plantings.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
