Overview

Registered in 2016 by D. Beilstein, *Hosta* 'Miss Mitzi' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its quad-color leaf centers, which combine medium green, dark green, blue-green, and greenish-yellow tones, framed by creamy white, slightly rippled margins. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, exhibit a slightly shiny surface on both sides and a lightly wavy overall form.

In the Garden

'Miss Mitzi' forms an upright mound reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shade gardens. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact size also allows for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
