Overview

Registered in 2008, 'Miss American Pie' is a large hosta of unknown parentage, with *Hosta* 'Uncle Albert' as the pod parent. Its most distinctive feature is the combination of a blue-green leaf blade with medium green, heavily rippled margins, creating a textured, bicolored effect.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter and 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height. It is suited to partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its large size makes it effective as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border. The heavily rippled margins provide textural contrast when planted near smoother-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed preventatively.
