Overview

Registered in 2002 by the American Hosta Society from the work of originator F. Maekawa, *Hosta* 'Mira' is a large, upright-growing cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its ovate, medium green leaves with slightly rippled margins, a lightly cupped and folded form, and a greenish blue scape.

In the Garden

'Mira' reaches a mature spread of approximately 45 inches (114.3 cm) and a height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), with an upright habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in typical hosta-growing zones, in partial to full shade, and makes a fine specimen plant due to its substantial size. Its large, textured leaves also suit it for use as a background plant in mixed borders or naturalized woodland settings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
