Overview
Registered in 2009, 'Martini' is a small, fast-growing hosta resulting from a cross between a golden yellow sport of *H. 'Blue Dimples'* and *H. 'Shining Tot'*. Its visual distinction lies in the combination of medium green, slightly shiny ovate leaves with a lightly wavy margin, forming a compact, mound-like plant.
In the Garden
'Martini' reaches a mature diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) and a height of 6 inches (15.2 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or small container plantings. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its green foliage provides a neutral backdrop for companion plants such as small ferns, *Heuchera*, or miniature *Astilbe*. Its fast growth rate and tidy mound habit also suit it for edging along pathways.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. 'Martini' shows typical hosta susceptibility to slugs and deer, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
