Overview
Registered in 1986 by H. Weissenberger, this miniature hosta is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Blue Cadet'. It forms a compact, dense clump of blue-green leaves with subtle undulations along the margins, reaching only 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter. The small, ovate leaves, measuring 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) long and 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, display five pairs of veins and a distinct blue-green coloration.
In the Garden
'H. Margie Weissenberger' is well-suited to shaded or partially shaded locations in typical hosta-growing zones. Its diminutive size makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border, where it can be paired with other miniature hostas, ferns, or small woodland perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. The plant's compact habit also makes it suitable for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, this cultivar may be susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate protective measures should be considered in areas where these pests are prevalent.
