Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Sagae' registered in 1999, 'Majesty' is a large, upright cultivar distinguished by its medium green leaves with broad, pale yellow margins. The leaf blades reach 12 inches (30.5 cm) in length and 9 inches (22.9 cm) in width, with 10 vein pairs and slightly rippled, 2-inch-wide (5.1 cm) margins.
In the Garden
'Majesty' performs best in partial to light shade, typical of most hosta cultivars, where it forms a substantial, upright clump. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or backdrop in mixed borders, and it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The broad gold margins provide contrast against darker-leaved companions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, especially in full leaf development, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Majesty' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
