Overview
Registered in 2009, 'M Go Blue' is a giant blue-green hosta of unknown pollen parentage, with *Hosta* 'Elata' as its pod parent. Its most distinctive characteristic is the way its large, broadly ovate leaves drape outward to form a pool of silver-blue foliage, creating a dense, mound-like clump.
In the Garden
With a mature spread of 56 inches (142.2 cm) and a height of 22 inches (55.9 cm), 'M Go Blue' is a substantial specimen best sited as a focal point in part to full shade. Its fast growth rate and large, lightly cupped and corrugated leaves make it effective for massing under high-branching trees or along shaded borders, where it pairs well with ferns and other broad-leaved shade perennials. The blue-green scapes, reaching 22 to 24 inches (55.9 to 61.0 cm), carry flowers typical of the genus but are not the primary ornamental feature.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during establishment and throughout the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage can disfigure the foliage and may require management in susceptible gardens.
