Overview

Registered in 2011, 'Lovely Rita' is a small hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its compact, mound-like habit and ovate, dull-surfaced leaves of light green with narrow, flat white margins measuring approximately 0.3 cm (0.125 in) wide.

In the Garden

'Lovely Rita' reaches a mature height of 7 inches (17.8 cm) and a spread of 18 inches (45.7 cm), forming a tidy mound. Its small size and fast growth rate make it well suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for variegated hostas, and pairs effectively with other small perennials such as ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through routine monitoring or protective measures.
