Overview
Registered in 2013 by E. Schulz, *Hosta* 'Love Tap' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Love Pat' (pollen parent unknown). This large, upright cultivar is distinguished by its intensely blue-green, deeply cupped leaves with slightly rippled margins and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.
In the Garden
'Love Tap' forms a substantial, vase-shaped clump reaching 26 inches (66 cm) in height and 44 inches (112 cm) in diameter at maturity. Its upward-facing, deeply cupped leaves and moderate growth rate make it suitable for partially shaded borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant in typical hosta-growing zones. The blue-green foliage pairs well with golden or chartreuse-leaved companions such as *Hosta* 'Sum and Substance' or ferns.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most blue-leaved hostas, 'Love Tap' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed.
