Overview
Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Love Song' is a large, mound-forming cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Arch Duke' and *H.* 'Sky Dancer'. It is visually distinguished by its blue-green, ovate leaves with cordate bases, long leaf tips, and heavily rippled, medium green margins, combined with a dull upper surface and a glaucous bloom beneath.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a substantial mound reaching approximately 46.5 inches (118.1 cm) in diameter and 22.4 inches (56.9 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It is best suited to partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its leaf color and texture are most pronounced. Its large size makes it an effective specimen or background plant in shaded borders, and it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed as needed.
