Overview
Registered in 2007 as a selfed seedling of *Hosta* 'Rock Princess', 'Lord Rock' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green foliage with medium green, slightly rippled margins and a dull glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides. The broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases and lightly wavy edges form a dense, mound-like habit.
In the Garden
'Lord Rock' reaches approximately 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact, rounded form makes it suitable for border fronts, woodland gardens, or as a specimen in shaded beds.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While generally resilient, monitor for slug and deer damage in susceptible gardens.
