Overview
Originating from a cross between *Hosta* 'White Vision' (pod parent) and *Hosta montana* f. *macrophylla* (pollen parent), 'Long Meadow' was registered in 2009. This large cultivar is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, dull green leaves with pale yellow, slightly rippled margins and a notable corrugated surface texture.
In the Garden
'Long Meadow' forms a mound-like clump reaching approximately 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter and 21 inches (53.3 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its substantial leaf size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders. The pale yellow marginal variegation provides contrast against darker green foliage plants such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Long Meadow' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate management may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
