Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Allegan Fog' registered in 2006, 'London Fog' is a small, slow-growing cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with white margins and a misted, speckled appearance. The ovate leaves, measuring 6 inches long and 3 inches wide, feature white margins with green speckling, a dull upper surface, and a thin glaucous bloom underneath, with 7 to 8 vein pairs and lightly wavy edges.
In the Garden
'London Fog' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 12 inches in height and 30 inches in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container cultivation. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small shade perennials. Its slow growth rate and small size also make it an excellent choice for trough gardens or as an edging plant.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'London Fog' is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
