Overview

Registered in 1988 by M. Zilis as a sport of an unnamed parent, 'Little White Lines' is a small hosta distinguished by medium green leaves with white margins. The foliage measures 4 inches (10.2 cm) long by 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide, with six vein pairs, and forms a compact mound 8 inches (20.3 cm) tall and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, where its white-margined leaves remain crisp and well-defined. At maturity, it forms a tidy clump roughly 18 inches (45.7 cm) across, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or trough containers. Its small stature pairs well with other diminutive perennials such as heucheras or miniature ferns.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge. Like most hostas, 'Little White Lines' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
