Overview
Registered in 2014 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Elfin Fire', 'Little Spark' forms a small, upright clump distinguished by medium green leaves with pure white, flat margins. The lance-shaped leaves, measuring 3.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, display five vein pairs and a lightly corrugated surface with slight shine on both sides.
In the Garden
Reaching 9 inches in height and 20 inches in diameter at maturity, this fast-growing cultivar performs best in partial to dappled shade, where its white-margined foliage remains crisp and well-defined. Its compact, upright habit suits the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings, and pairs effectively with small ferns, tiarella, or miniature sedges. The green scapes rise 20 to 24 inches above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer exposures, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. While 'Little Spark' exhibits better-than-average leaf substance for its size class, standard slug and deer precautions are recommended in typical hosta-growing zones.
