Overview

Registered in 1988 by M. Zilis and D. Lohman, this miniature hybrid combines the large-leaved *Hosta* 'Sum and Substance' as seed parent with the diminutive *Hosta venusta* as pollen parent. 'Little Razor' is visually distinctive for its very small, narrow green leaves edged with very pale gold margins, forming a compact mound 6 inches (15.2 cm) tall and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Little Razor' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, where its pale gold margins remain most visible. Its miniature size makes it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, where it can be paired with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. The plant's compact habit and small leaf size also make it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Little Razor' may be subject to slug and deer damage; standard preventive measures are recommended.
