Overview
Registered in 2008 by A. Bergeron, this small hosta cultivar resulted from a cross between *H. 'Regal Rhubarb'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Ogon Koba'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its intensely wavy, ovate leaves that display a blue-green center with golden yellow, heavily rippled margins, and for its wine-colored scapes.
In the Garden
*Hosta 'Little Miss Sunshine'* forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter. It tolerates more sun exposure than many hostas, though typical partial to dappled shade conditions are suitable. Its small stature makes it appropriate for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders, where it pairs well with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or ferns.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While slugs and deer may damage foliage, the cultivar's thick, wavy leaves offer moderate resistance compared to thinner-leaved hostas; standard slug control measures are advisable in damp conditions.
