Overview

Registered in 1993 by J. Kulpa and introduced by N. Krul, *Hosta* 'Little Lites' is a small sport of *Hosta* 'Northern Lights'. It is distinguished by its creamy white leaf centers bordered by medium dark green, smooth margins, a color pattern reversed from the typical green-center, white-margin hosta.

In the Garden

'Hosta 'Little Lites' reaches a mature size of 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with individual leaves 4 inches (10.2 cm) long and 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas. Its small stature makes it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, and it pairs well with other small woodland perennials such as *Heuchera* or ferns. It is also an appropriate choice for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage; monitor regularly and take protective measures if these pests are prevalent in the garden.
