Overview

Registered in 2012, *Hosta* 'Little Hottie' is a miniature cultivar of unknown parentage, distinguished by its small, ovate leaves with green centers and white margins that are streaked with white, yellow, and green along slightly rippled edges. The leaves are very shiny on the upper surface and slightly shiny beneath, measuring 3 inches (7.6 cm) long and 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide, with three vein pairs and a tapered base.

In the Garden

This miniature hosta forms a compact clump 6 inches (15.2 cm) in diameter and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) tall, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It is well-suited for shaded or partially shaded positions in typical hosta-growing zones, and its small size makes it an excellent choice for troughs, containers, or the front of a woodland border. Companion plants might include small ferns or miniature sedges that share similar moisture and light requirements.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Little Hottie' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, and its small leaves may require extra vigilance against these pests.
