Overview
Registered in 2005, *Hosta* 'Little Green Griffonage' is a small, mound-forming cultivar of unknown breeder, derived from the pod parent *H. 'Bill Dress's Blue'. It is distinguished by its dense, dome-shaped habit and nearly round, medium green leaves with flat, unvariegated margins, despite its registered leaf colour classification as variegated. The foliage is dull on the upper surface and slightly shiny beneath, with a lightly cupped, moderately flat profile.
In the Garden
'Little Green Griffonage' is suited to partial to full shade, typical for small hostas, and reaches a mature diameter of 12 inches (30.5 cm) with a height of 8 inches (20.3 cm). Its compact, mound-like form makes it appropriate for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, where it pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or miniature sedges. Its small size also lends itself to container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protection from slugs and deer may be necessary in garden settings.
